Storyline:
Becca and Howie Corbett are a happily married couple whose perfect world is forever changed when their young son, Danny, is killed by a car. Becca, an executive-turned-stay-at-home mother, tries to redefine her existence in a surreal landscape of well-meaning family and friends. Painful, poignant, and often funny, Becca's experiences lead her to find solace in a mysterious relationship with a troubled young comic-book artist, Jason - the teenage driver of the car that killed Danny. Becca's fixation with Jason pulls her away from memories of Danny, while Howie immerses himself in the past, seeking refuge in outsiders who offer him something Becca is unable to give. The Corbetts, both adrift, make surprising and dangerous choices as they choose a path that will determine their fate.

This movie contains some of the most revealingly nuanced acting to be seen on a screen this year. The sad, sweet release of RABBIT HOLE lies precisely in the access it allows to the pain of others, in its meticulously mapped empathy. With an exceptional, emotionally transparent cast led by Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart, both giving the best performances of their careers. The anatomy of grief in this films doesn't so much jerk tears as tap them, from a reservoir of feelings common to anyone who has experienced the landscape-shifting vacuum left by a death in the family. Anyone who has ever gone through the possessions of a deceased family member or close friend understands instantly the crispness of Kidman's characters tone. She makes it clear that the wound beneath the Band-Aid never really stops hurting. This cast that includes Diane Wiest, Tammy Blanchard, and Sandra Oh has a way of letting the audience know that sometimes great sorrow is simply beyond words. Excellent Film!

I liked the movie because it was realistic and representative of the grief process without sensationalizing it. True to form and the lead characters were excellent. I suspect it would not be a good film for children under the age of 18. It has meaning for people with life experiences.
